I have had a terrible experience with this company. I bought a top-of-the-line scooter from them and never-ever got a working product.

They simply offer to send me parts I don't need rather than fix the problem and send me a working unit.

They did, however, successfully string me along for months waiting on parts so that now enough time has gone by that even returning the product is not an option.

BUYERS BEWARE

Purchased an extra battery from them, it seemed a bit weak compared to my other battery in that it didn't last quite as long, but kept it anyway. Now, after storing them for the winter, both are not lasting even half as long as before, the one that was weak is even worse, hardly even takes a charge. I followed their instructions on storing them, too. Now at the price they charge, I might as well forget this idea of using the bike to save money on gas and to be greener! The bike I have had to repair (rear tire) also. (Have the Schwinn 1000) It was/is fun, if only it didn't have this real problem with the batteries lasting or handling storage over the winter.

Similar to others, I purchased a Schwinn stealth 1000 from Currie. Used it about 20 hours (max) and kept it in warm storage, with ongoing charges through the winter. Batteries are dead and replacements were quoted as $100 today (6/19/08)...after calling three times...waiting 20 minutes on hold. Scooter is great. Batteries are really poor. Currie customer service is not very good.

I ordered this from Currie via Amazon on May 1. I was told it would ship within a week. It didn't actually ship until May 12, and only then possibly because I badgered Currie's customer service.

I think Currie is inefficient or understaffed. The young woman who was taking a previous order told me that after they work on the phone all day, in their "spare time" after the phone lines close down, they process the orders. (This was for a battery pack offer included in the original scooter package). That particular order might have taken 4-6 weeks.

This battery was purchased to replace the original battery that came with my son's scooter. It arrived as indicated and in perfect condition. It works great and is holding a charge for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours with normal use.

I purchased this a few days ago. Delivery time was good. The charged light stays on even when it's not connected to the battery pack. The charging light never comes on. I left it plugged in overnight and it did nothing. It is a 1500ma (1.5 amp) unit - not triple currents like advertised.
A complete waste of money!

I added more details and deleted my old review. Well, here it is.

I bought this from wally world for 199. The model name is S500-SD, and it is a green 2008 model. As of today, I have returned my 3rd one of these. I couldn't find any more from near my location so I'll have to ride something else now.

Anyways, build quality is okay but it definitely is a low quality Chinese product. It is heavy steel and the welded joints were ugly on some, and some cleaner.

It makes a high tone wining (wine-) noise, so it gets peoples attention. Not that loud, but it gets louder if you don't oil the chains. I had to oil it with liquid silicon spray every week. But it is kind of quiet after lube. I also tried dry lube, but it only lasts like 2 days.

The motor or wheel doesn't freewheel, so it does have some drag when pushing it. This will cuase the brush wear all the time.

I weight 125 lbs, can climb hills fair on full throttle. I can ride my bicycle up the hill without standing up, but it will take some breath.

The scooter is slow on hills, but not that bad. The lead acid battery must be recharged as soon as possible, and it's not good to use more than 70% of the battery. The more you use up at once, the less cycle you'll have, especially worst if you use up more.

The brake is a strip break in a drum, not a disc brake. It didn't work well when I first got this, but after couple days using the brake, they are starting to work better. But having to rely on only one brake is scary at times.

I didn't attach the seat, so there is a big hole on the board. I wish there was a cover or something.

Because the board isn't sealing well, there are always some dirt that goes in to the battery pack area. I wish they used a better design.

I tried to call tech support to Currie tech, these days they answer their phone really quickly, even on Mondays.

Reason for returning:
1st one: brake problem
2nd one: missing seat screw
3rd one: bent front fork

I added more details and deleted my old review. Well, here it is.

I bought this from wally world for 199. The model name is S500-SD, and it is a green 2008 model. As of today, I have returned my 3rd one of these. I couldn’t find any more from near my location so I’ll have to ride something else now.

Anyways, build quality is okay but it definitely is a low quality Chinese product. It is heavy steel and the welded joints were ugly on some, and some cleaner.

It makes a high tone wining (wine-) noise, so it gets peoples attention. Not that loud, but it gets louder if you don’t oil the chains. I had to oil it with liquid silicon spray every week. But it is kind of quiet after lube. I also tried dry lube, but it only lasts like 2 days.

We bought four of the scooters and we ride them all the time. They have replaced many of our short car rides. As campers, they have replaced our golf cart rentals. LOVE THEM!!!

My 12-year-old daughter saved and bought this scooter by herself after researching other models. The scooter has more pep than I thought - it has a fast start that can surprise riders not expecting it. It can carry my daughter and her friend around the neighborhood easily. Very happy with this buy.
